The guy with pipe bender went into Carl's Jr restaurant in Monterey Park and started to break windows. When police arrived, they attempted to use Taser on him, but it failed, and the guy turned around, prompting the second officer with the K9 to fire rounds.

Tactical vs Competition training/전술 vs 경기 훈련

Recently I came across two videos that discuss about engaging steel plate rack. One was by Rob Leatham, and another is by Paul Howe.

Rob Leatham is a world class shooter who has amazing records in competitions. Paul Howe is the veteran of Delta force who was on the ground in Mogadishu. You can guess that they have different view on training with the steel plate rack.

Rob Leatham says that once you get a good sight picture and a good trigger pull, as the gun is in recoil, start moving to the next plate instead of going for follow through. Paul Howe says the opposite and encourages that shooters do a proper follow through since there is no guaranty that the target has fallen.

This shows the different use of the same equipment. There is no unilateral answer on how to shoot, it is all dependent on what you want to accomplish. There are commonalities in competition and tactical shooting, but there are also difference too.

롭 레이텀은 좋은 조준과 좋은 방아쇠 당김이 있으면, 총이 반동을 하는 동안, 팔로우 스루(동작 이어가기)를 하기 보다는 다음 접시로 움직이라고 말합니다. 폴 하우는 반대로 표적이 넘어졌다는 확인이 없으니 사격하는 사람이 제대로된 팔로우 스루를 할 것을 권합니다.

이것은 같은 장비의 다른 사용을 보여줍니다. 어떻게 사격하는냐에 대한 일방적인 답은 없고, 이루고자 하는 목표에 의존 한다는 것을 보여줍니다. 경기 사격과 전술 사격에 공통점이 있지만, 차이점도 있습니다.

Negligent Discharge.../오발사고

The video is by Tex Grebner who explains how he had a ND. He was using 5.11 thumb drive holster with his Glock earlier in the day, then switched to his Kimber 1911 with Blackhawk Serpa holster.

When he tried to do a drill, he disengaged the safety on the pistol, and after he pressed the holster's retention system with his index finger, he curled up his finger and pulled the trigger.

Testing bullet penetration when they hit two loaded magazines.

First is the AK magazine shot with a 5.56 round. It went through both magazines.
Second is the AR magazine shot with 7.62X39. You can see the powders and burns in the magazine pouch.

Supposedly happened in Nicaragua. The woman wanted to break off from the guy with knife(got a new boyfriend) and police were called. Police got attacked, 2 dead. Attacker also dies later in hospital.

나카라과에서 있었던 일이라고 합니다. 여자는 칼을 든 남자와 헤어지기를 원했고(새 남자 친구가 있음) 경찰이 출동했습니다. 경찰이 공격당해서 둘이 사망했습니다. 공격한 남자도 후에 병원에서 사망했습니다.

총을 사용하게 한다지만...

얼마전 한국에서 취객이 흉기를 들고 난동을 부릴때 경찰이 고생한후 경찰청장이 총이라도 써야 하지 않느냐고 물었다.

맞는 말이다. 상대방이 칼로 위협을 가하는데 총이 있으면 써야지.

하.지.만.

한국 경찰의 규정대로라면 우선 명령을 주고, 공포탄을 쏘고, 그 다음에 실탄을 써야한다. 그것도 다리에다가.

말도 안되는 규정을 세워놓고 그 규정대로 하라고 하면 누가 하겠는지 궁금하다.

권총을 가지고 다리를 맞추려 하는것은 거의 불가능하다. 가만히 있는 표적도 힘든데, 움직이는 사람의 다리는 거의 불가능이다. 이런 규정을 세운 사람들은 아마 영화에서나 봤겠지만, 실제와 영화는 다른것을 모르는지 궁금하다.

다리에 맞아도 잘못되서 혈관에 맞으면 출혈로 죽을수 있다는 사실도 모르겠지?

이런 규정이 있어서 총을 사용하기를 꺼려하고, 또 정당방위라도 뭔가 문제가 될듯하니 결국은 아예 신경을 꺼놓은 상태가 된것을 생각했는지 궁금하다.
